Former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson claims he has been offered the chance to coach on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ alongside Conor McGregor.

‘El Cucuy’ previously suggested he wanted to appear on the MMA-based reality show alongside his old rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, despite the fact the Russian is now retired from fighting.

On Thursday, he took to social media to claim that the UFC has told him he can coach on the show alongside whoever he wants before revealing he has chosen to square off against McGregor.

Ferguson tweeted: “I’ve been asked to coach on TUF against ol’ Fathead, or anyone of my choosing if that cake-eatin’ sum’bish’ wouldn’t show *mack* what a vagina always ready anytime anywhere.

“I choose you McKnacker. Conor McGregor see ewe soon.”

Ferguson’s TUF call-out of McGregor comes just one day after the Irishman suggested he could return to the show following a coaching stint alongside Urijah Faber in 2015.

“This is a snap from the original ultimate fighter house. Where I coached vs urijah faber. This photo was just before the show tho. It was right before I won my first world title beating urijah team mate chad mendes around,” McGregor wrote on Instagram.

“I then went on to coach the famous fight show straight after the fight. With a big black eye and a gash, my tricolor, and my new and first ever ufc gold belt, I waltzed into the notorious fight gym in Las Vegas. The slickest suits and shouts the show had ever seen before. On top of the silverware. And I coached my team to victory.

“Crazy. Some journey. I have just been offered to coach this role again. I like it. It is full immersion which is needed. I see fighters lining up. I know whats ahead I been ready motherf******.”

While TUF fans will be happy to see McGregor back on a show that made him hugely popular, it could mean his eagerly anticipated return to MMA is delayed.

‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought since suffering a catastrophic leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021 but is now fully fit and talking about booking his comeback fight in February.

However, TUF requires coaches to commit to an intense six-week filming period that will take McGregor away from his camp and delay his inevitable return to the Octagon.

The UFC is yet to comment on who will be coaching the latest TUF season, but based on their recent social media activity it appears McGregor and Ferguson are the frontrunners.
