With the nickname "Beeg Boy" he was the 1970s National League baseball champion with GPA was 366 and only one All-Star appearance this season, while playing for the Atlanta Braves. Carty was one of the first Dominicans in MLB. However, his career has been marked by battles with injuries, illness and with teammates. During his 15 seasons, he played for the Milwaukee / Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs in the National League, as well as for the Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers in the American League.
